Assets and Limitations - making lemonade from lemons!

In July I’m part of an interesting show at Fuller Lodge Art Center in Los Alamos. The show is called (This) Ability. The show description reads “our struggles and difficulties are often what makes us stronger and force us to forge a unique path. They take us down a new road by acknowledging and working with limitations”

Wishing You all the Best in 2015

Wishing everyone a happy, healthy, and successful year ahead in 2015.  I’m really excited about the newest designs I’m working on and I want to share some of my ideas with you.

I’ve Earrings-double spirals in silverdesigned a number of gemstone earrings and some sterling silver coil earrings in several styles.   These coiled silver earrings have Earrings-flat coiled sterling silverbeen very popular and they’ve been out of stock for a while.   Matching silver coils necklaces can be ordered to go with any of these earring styles.   For variety, I think I will add some gemstones to some of these styles

Earrings-Turquoise oval studs in silverNew turquoise earrings – this pierced stud earring style is available to order in a variety of gemstones.   More new styles will be coming throughout the year ahead – I’m doing more cabochon rings, bezel set cabochon earrings and matching pendants for 2015 – all available in silver, but you can order them in gold as well.

For 2015, I’m doing my Eternal  Spiral earrings in silver with several choices of gemstones. The photos show peridot, garnet (Garnets are the January birthstone), and Swiss blue topaz,Earrings-Swiss blue topaz in woven silver spirals but I have a variety of faceted stones available (amethyst, citrine, smoky quartz, etc).       Matching pendants are available.   I’m also working on earrings and pendants in this style with small cabochons instead of faceted stones.    All of these styles are shown in silver, but they can be done in karat gold, too.Earrings-Peridot in woven silver spirals_1

Before moving to New Mexico, we the southwestern US and Santa Fe a number of times in an RV.    We actually lived in our RV while we looked for at houses here and went New Lazy Dazethrough the purchase and moving in process.   None of this would have happened without the RV!!      Once we settled in, we decided to sell that RV, but we’ve missed having some kind of RV a lot.    So — we have a new (to us) RV:    a nice used LazyDaze –  the same manufacturer as the very first RV we ever owned.

New Wedding Jewelry At

My latest BLOG post -  check it out at

Jewelry for your Wedding – a new category for Pearl and Gemstone Jewelry.comNecklace-large keishi and crystal
I’ve been designing some interesting necklaces for weddings lately, so I’ve added an entire section on Wedding Jewelry to the website. Right now there are mostly pearl necklaces shown, but I’ll have some crystal necklaces on the website soon, too, plus tiaras and an assortment of vintage jewelry designs.
Pearls are always a wonderful choice for wedding jewelry and combine beautifully with other gems or with crystal in a variety of colors. Even a single pearl drop on a chain can be the perfect accent.   More....

Something About Me

Since I haven't had the pleasure of meeting all of you in person,  I thought I would share a little of my background.

Some of my fondest memories from growing up in the Washington DC area are of family trips to craft centers in the Appalachians and Blue Ridge mountains where I enjoyed seeing things that people made with their own hands -  weaving and pottery and most of all handmade jewelry!

I earned a PhD in chemistry and pusued a career as a chemist in several government laboratories.   After grad school I took advantage of opportunities to learn more about how jewelry is made and how gemstone cabochons are cut.    Creating settings for the stones led me into silversmithing and wire wrapping.   I guess I'm a perpetual student - I loved all of it.

A chance conversation with a colleague at a summer chemistry conference introduced me to belly dancing.   I took a couple of classes and I was hooked!   I was entranced by the movements, the music, and especially the costuming and the jewelry.   It was a wonderful opportunity to dress up and become someone mysterious!   I started selling jewelry and music to other dancers.  This eventually grew into a full time business which I sold after many fun filled years of dancing, designing and selling costuming and jewelry.

I am passionate about my jewelry and I'm so energized by the designs I'm creating now that I want to share them with all my friends.  My own eclectic approach to life and living is reflected in each of my creations.

I love to see my jewelry worn and enjoyed by others.   The process of designing and creating fascinates and excites me.   Each piece of my jewelry is lovingly created by me from the finest materials.

I work primarily in silver, gold, pearls, and gemstones.   My jewelry is hand constructed piece by piece.   I love doing custom pieces where I can work with the client to create pieces that reflect their aura and personality.

I moved to NM because this part of the country is the most deeply inspiring place I have ever been.  I love the landscapes and especially the sky and the clouds with their ever changing patterns!  I want my jewelry to communicate the excitement I feel about being in NM.

Texture is a fundamental element in many of my designs and I especially love textures and patterns taken from nature.    I see wonderful textural elements in the rocks and plants around me and I incorporate those textures in my jewelry using small hand tools and a chasing hammer.
