Thanksgiving

I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. It's a great time to get together with family and friends (that's what we'll be doing). I'm also doing a home jewelry show this weekend.

Fall is coming to North Central Florida

It's been a gorgeous day - sunny and warm. However, the forecast calls for possible frost tonight. I really enjoy working on jewelry pieces in weather like this - it seems as if the lovely day gets the creative juices flowing!

No Hand Exercises

Today was my last appointment with the hand therapists. In my particular case, they do not recommend strengthening exercises. Apparently, most of the strengthening exercises involve squeezing some object or device and both therapists feel the exercises would aggravate the arthritis problems I already have. My hand strength tests came out as adequate, so I guess I'll leave well enough alone and just be careful about how long I work at any one time. The therapists also again recommended using the hot wax bath. I'll continue to use the splint as needed to rest the hand.

New Canopy?

We evaluated a new canopy this weekend. We tried out the Light Dome and we liked it a lot. I want to check out the extra display panels, but this tent is one that I can put up by myself if I have to do that.

Florida has wonderful fall weather

This is one of my favorite times of year. Northern Florida has marvelous fall weather. Today was a prime example - brilliant sunshine and a cool morning followed by a warm up during the day.

This morning we spent several hours wandering through a local art show. We enjoyed the art, but we also were interested in the displays people were using. I saw some great display arrangements and booth designs. I hope to be able to incorporate some new ideas into my own displays.

My new e-letter

Hi -

You may remember me as Chandra of Damascus and from Chandra’s Dance Extravaganza, which I sold a few years ago. Since then, I’ve been creating beautiful jewelry that I like to call “wearable art”. I’d love for you to see it and renew old acquaintances.

For the last few years my husband Bob and I have been traveling in our RV through the American west. As we discover little treasures I have been collecting gorgeous and exciting semi-precious stones and beads to blend into my jewelry. We’ve also spent a lot of time in the Florida Keys and the southern Appalachian mountains and I find inspiration in the glorious colors and textures of these magnificent landscapes. Each of my pieces embodies elements drawn from a different natural scene: the muted but rich pastels and textures of the desert …the stunning seascape of the Florida Keys, where the ocean is magically transformed into emerald and turquoise … the vibrantly brilliant fall colors of the North Carolina mountains. And of course, some of my creations draw inspiration from my lifetime in Middle East dance.

You can see my artisan jewelry on my website http://www.dianakirkpatrick.com/ and also at some special events.

Sunday, November 25, my jewelry party will be at Instep Studio, 2609 Glover Road, Tallahassee, FL from 2 to 5 p.m. This party is hosted by Nancy Redig of Instep Studio. Please RSVP to 866-377-5151
or halimeda@instepstudio.com.

Saturday and Sunday, December 1 and 2, I’ll show my jewelry at a Middle Eastern Dance seminar in Gainesville, FL sponsored by Global Dance Arts. To register for the seminar or one of the shows, go to http://www.globaldancearts.com/

I love my designs, I wear them and I enjoy seeing others wear my creations. This is the first issue of an occasional e-newsletter for those interested in my jewelry. It will tell you about my latest creations and where you can see them. And please do tell your friends about my work.

I'm taking the liberty of assuming you would like to see my newsletter. If you prefer to be removed from my newsletter list, you can unsubscribe below or on my website (under “Contact”). And if you send friends a copy, your friends can subscribe too.

Warm regards,

Diana Kirkpatrick

I've started a periodic e-newsletter that goes to my mailing list and anyone else who's interested in receiving a copy. Please e-mail me to sign up or subscribe on my website.
