My woven silver earring jackets can give you 3 different looks in one package.   You can wear the studs alone, you can add an earwire to the woven pieces and wear them alone, or you can wear the studs with the earring jackets as shown in the accompanying photo.

A Woven Necklace

I've recently completed a woven necklace in silver and rose gold.   I used the naalbinding technique to weave the strands.   Naalbinding is much like Viking knit and uses a little wire "flower" to start each strand.   The number of "petals" on the flower determine the number of sides to your woven chain.

If you are using expensive materials in a necklace or bracelet, you may want to begin your weaving with some practice wire until the stitch evens out.   This is particularly true if you are new to the technique or if you haven't done any weaving in a while.   I always find it helpful to have a warm-up if some time has passed since my last piece of weaving.   The same technique creates chains for earrings and bracelets as well as necklaces.   You can also double the stitch for a different look.

Tangerine for 2012

Tangerine is a hot, hot color for Spring 2012 continuing into summer.  You’ll find tangerine in jewelry, accessories, and of course clothes.

You can pair tangerine with black or with light neutral colors.   However, one currently hot combination cropping up everywhere is tangerine paired with turquoise!   You have lots of choices in jewelry to accessorize either turquoise clothing or a tangerine outfit:  select turquoise jewelry, agate or carnelian jewelry, or mix turquoise and agate and maybe add a few strands of gold beads or some gold chains.   If you’re a silver person that works, too, and you may find that copper would also be an interesting choice.

April Birthstone - Diamond

Diamonds are the birthstone for April.   The diamond is made of pure carbon and is the hardest, densest, and rarest gem.

Diamonds are thought to encourage hope, promote healing, and impart protection.

Here's a link to an informative article on diamonds:

NEW ARTICLE: DIAMOND: The Emperor still Reigns Supreme
The Online Jeweller Magazine takes a look at diamond, the official birthstone for April. History, lore, sources, and care are examined.

Last Two Weeks at AGG

My last day at the Artisans' Guild Gallery will be Friday, April 20.

Next month we leave for New Mexico and I will no longer be able to meet the requirements to maintain my membership in Florida.

Come in and look around.   I have a variety of earrings available, plus a selection of unique necklaces and handcrafted bracelets.

I hate to leave - I will miss the Guild and all of my friends there.

Necklace for Copper Flower Pendant

I created a hammered copper necklace for the little flower pendant.   When I make another necklace I'll use a heavier gauge wire.   This time I only had 16 gauge and I'd prefer 12-14 gauge in the future.

I'm excited to do another pendant and earrings with a new heavier necklace design - all in copper.  After that, I'll create similar designs in sterling and Argentium silver.

Find My Jewelry

I'm often asked about places to find my handmade jewelry in addition to my website.  One place in Gainesville is The Perfect Gift, located in Haile Village.   Drop in and take a look.

Here's a necklace you'll find there that's perfect for Spring wear.   It could make a terrific Mother's Day gift, too.  It's an unusual design with three rose quartz cabochons set in sterling silver.   The necklace mixes rose quartz beads with little pink lampwork beads in a floral pattern.

My Handmade Art Jewelry

I really love designing and creating jewelry. My goal when making a piece of my handmade jewelry is to create a first class design that you will be proud to own and wear or to give as a gift. I use top quality materials only - Argentium silver, sterling silver, copper, or karat gold. My get my stones, pearls, etc., from first rate sources. Many stones are cut to my order. Whenever possible I hand select the stones I will use in a a particular design.

Many designs originate from the stones themselves. When I find the stone, the ideas a setting begin to come to me bit by bit until I have a concept to sketch out. Sometimes I create preliminary pieces in copper to see how the idea will work out. I am attentive to all the details in constructing my pieces, too, and I spend a lot of time on the finishing and polishing of the completed piece. Finally, I stand behind my work 100%. I want my customers to be happy with their purchases.
